Professor Li has been a pioneer of Medical Informatics research and a board-certified dermatologist in Taiwan. He is the founder of the Graduate Institute of Medical Informatics in Taipei Medical University and also the President of Taiwan Association for Medical Informatics (TAMI) from 1999 to 2003. From 2006 to 2009, he was the President of Asia Pacific Association for Medical Informatics (APAMI). Due to his achievement in establishing medical information exchange mechanisms among hospitals and his dedication to information technology applications in patient safety and care, he was awarded as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the Year (TOYP) in 2001. He has been the Principle Investigators of many national projects in Electronic Health Record, Patient Safety Informatics and Medical e-learning. He is also author of 140 scientific papers and 3 college-level textbooks. Currently, he is the Dean of College of Medical Science and Technology in Taipei Medical University, and a Distinguished Professor of the Graduate Institute of Biomedical Informatics.
